A Digital Signature Certificate (DSC) is an electronic signature used to identify an individual or an organization on the Internet. It is a secure way to identify the sender of a message or document. The digital signature is used to make sure that the document is real and that the certificate holder is who they say they are.

A Digital Signature Certification (DSC) is also used to make sure those online transactions, such as filling out the annual return, company or LLP Incorporation, and income tax e-filing, are legally verified.

Type of Digital Signature Certificates (DSC)

The digital signature is made by a licensed certifying authority (CA) under Section 24 of the government of India. A digital signature certificate is used domestic and foreign companies. There are three main types of digital signature certificates (DSC) that are given out by the certifying authority (CA).  Digital Signature Certificates are used for many different things. Each class of digital signature certificate (DSC) has a different level of security and a different sense of reliability.

·      Class 1 Digital Signature Certificates: Class 1 Digital Signature Certificates are given out by the certifying authorities to individuals and private subscribers. Class 1 DSC lists the names, user names, and email addresses of the DSC holder.

·      Class 2 Digital Signature Certificate: The Class 2 Digital Signature Certificates is issued to the CEO and directors by the certifying authorities. Class 2 DSC is primarily used for IE code registration, limited liability partnership registration, MCA e-filing, Customs e-filing, Income Tax Filing, and other government documents.

·      Class 3 Digital Signature Certificate: The Class 3 Digital Signature Certificate will be issued to individuals and organizations. A Class 3 DSC is a necessary for online applications. As these are high-assurance certificates, they will be provided to people who show up in person to the certifying authorities. This is because they are mostly used for e-commerce applications. Class 3 DSC is primarily used for e-Tendering, Patent and Trademark e-filing, Customs e-filing, E-Procurement, E-Bidding, E-Procurement, CBSE School, and Director's KYC. A Digital Signature Certificate is offered with a one-year, two-year, or three-year validity term.
